Disney Pixar Blog Hop – Day One

Welcome to the Disney Pixar Blog Hop!

We are so glad that you could join us again for another hop!  Remember, if you want to be the FIRST to know about upcoming hops, be sure to join Shawn and Melissa’s Blog Hop Facebook Page.

We have been having a LOT of fun this week celebrating the one year anniversary of MyCutSearch.com.  All week we have had Promo Codes for discounts on amazing products.  If you missed any of them you can click HERE and still get in on the great deals!

For today’s project I decided to go “old school” and not cover the entire page with paper.  The colorful Disney characters looked nice against the white background.  I used some pictures that I took, some that my daughter took and one that the Disney staff took of our whole family in front of the castle.

I enlarged the picture of the castle to a 5×7, and then matted it with yellow and a blue paper that I had with little magic wands and bursts of color.  I used my Mickey Font cartridge to do the words Magical Memories on the two pages of the layout.

The banner was actually NOT part of the original plan of the layout, but Daisy and Donald’s hands did not cut out clean, and I did not want to have to throw away the entire cut.  I could have re-cut that portion of the image, but instead I decided to make a banner that covered it.  On the banner I added some gold stickers with the year that we went to Walt Disney World.

The second side of the layout has a cut of Minnie and Mickey hugging, right next to the picture my daughter took of the Minnie and Mickey topiary trees.  I used a Mickey Mouse punch that I have for the embellishment between the picture of the family and the statue of Walt and Mickey.

Before you go I would like to offer you a chance to win a prize of a $25 Gift Certificate to Custom Crops!

Those of you that know me know that my family created the website MyCutSearch.com and that I like to have everyone play a game with MyCutSearch.com in order to enter to win prizes.  Since my layout had paper with a wand in it, let’s go to MyCutSearch and search the word

and then send me an email by clicking here or by using the Contact Us Page at MyCutSearch.com telling me how many Cricut handbook pages came up in the search for the word wand.

Good luck and thanks for playing!  Winners will be announced on Tuesday, October 4th.

Submission for this contest are now closed

Be sure to stop back tomorrow to see a new Disney project and a whole new line up of bloggers!

Now it is time to send you off to

  1. GOOD MORNING, Sistah!! In addition to enjoying seeing your gorgeous family and MyCutSearch team, my favorite part about your layout is the banner — so I'm DELIGHTED the cut didn't work out. What a super idea to add that banner, with the year on it. REALLY like it a lot, Shawn!!

Thank you for having me on this super blog hop!

  2. Good morning Shawn. I love how you made goofy hold the banner. So glad the hop is finally here! 🙂

  3. Well I would say that it was a lucky mistake that Donald and Daisy's hands did not cut clean because that bright colored banner is the perfect finishing touch to your "old school" layout!

UGH! I have tried to post this under my google id but it won't let me! I don't understand why I am still having trouble posting on some blogs.

  4. Beautiful LO!! love the clean and simple look!

  7. Hey Shawn, looks like bad luck is hovering over me today. My post is up & I sent an email with my answer to the game but got an error message that I don't understand so I don't know if that went thru. On the other hand your LO turned out great & the banner was a very good solution to the accident.

  8. OMG! Your layout turned out just so stinkin cute, just like everyone else, I must agree…the banner is just perfect! Awesome 2 pager!

  9. Hopping by for the Disney HOP. I love your LO. The castle picture is very pretty. Looks like it was a beautiful vacation.

  11. Cute layout! I can't wait to do Disney layouts after we go someday. Is the Mickey punch from Creative Memories? It looks familiar. Creative Memories has a couple different Mickey/Disney punches.

  12. Love the layout – isn't it great how "mistakes" can turn into advantages? The banner is a really nice addition. It's funny that you used that Creative Memories punch – I chose the punch for the giveaway on my stop of the hop! Thanks again for organizing this event and congratulations on the one year anniversary of mycutsearch.

  13. I love the old school approach to this layout and the banner was a smart idea to save your cut!

  14. Love your LO!! I might need to 'borrow' the idea!! The banner adds so much, so that was a lucky 'mistake':-) Thanks!!!
