ScrapBands are a fun way to embellish the OUTSIDE of your scrapbooks.
When I first started scrapbooking I thought it would look so nice if I had books that were all the same color, so they would look nice on the shelf.
Then once I had more than 3 books I realized it was hard to tell which book was for which year. For example, if I wanted to quickly grab the scrapbook from 2010 that had our trip to Walt Disney World in it, I would have to look at each book to figure out which one had those pictures. I wanted something on the outside of the album so I could find it fast, so I used a plain ScrapBand and my embroidery/sewing machine and look what I did!
Makes it pretty easy to tell which year this book is for, and that it was the year of our Walt Disney World trip, don’t you think?
I want to do this will all of the books, by adding the year to the spine. For years with other big events I could add a tag, like on this ScrapBand.
Then you can easily write the year and the big events of that year on the tag . . . Beth’s 10th Birthday, Tommy Graduates High School, Gabby is born, Gage is born, trip to Salt Lake City . . . using a few examples from events over the past couple of years in my family that I would want to add to a tag like this.
You can purchase plain bands that you embellish yourself, like I did. The plain one worked great in my embroidery machine.
If you don’t do machine embroidery you could use fabric paint pens or iron on transfers to create something like this. ScrapBands also carries a selection of pre-decorated bands and embroidered bands that you can choose from if you don’t want to decorate it yourself.
